Friday Five: {Christmas Movies}

ONE | ELF

Elf, starring Will Ferrell Zooey Deschanel, is my all-time Christmas favorite.
I can't wait to snuggle up and watch it each year, hot cocoa and candy cane in hand.
My personal favorite line?
"I'm nothing but a cotton-headed ninny muggins."

TWO | LOVE ACTUALLY
Love Actually is a super-cute rom-com, involving over 12 people, all in love, and what they do during the five or so weeks before Christmas. It's ten years old this year, and it's getting a lot of hate recently, but it's become a sort-of Christmas tradition for me! Love it, actually.

THREE | HARRY POTTER

I know that technically-speaking, the Harry Potter films aren't Christmas-themed, but they do such a wonderful job at mentioning Christmas throughout the series. There is always a semi-festive moment (or at least a mention) of Christmas at Hogwarts. Plus, the Harry Potter series is the best.

FOUR | DR. SUESS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas

Dr. Seuss' Grinch is an essential part of any Christmas. I think Jim Carey did a pretty good job portraying the Grinch, and I always enjoy looking at the set of this movie - it is so much fun!

FIVE | THE HOLIDAY

If you're looking for a cute, cheesy Christmas rom-com to accompany Love Actually, the Holiday is it. It's about two women who switch houses for the holiday and find that happiness and friendship can be found in places very far away from home. It's quite sweet and romantic.

Happy watching!
And happy holidays!

Christmas {Play} List

Christmas {Play} List

Oh, Christmas is coming and I just love it! I cannot wait for Christmas lights to go up, boat parades (seriously the best part of a California Christmas) and most importantly, to get a week of quality time with my family. I am so ready for it.
So, since I am beginning to decorate my house for it's very first Christmas (even though I won't technically be here on Christmas, but whatever. I like it.), I thought I would make a playlist!
It's pictured above and I hope you enjoy!

Happy Holidays!

Halloween 2013

Happy Halloween, everybody!
The day that I've been waiting all of October (and most of September, if I'm honest) is here!
"In an old house in Paris that was covered in vines, lived twelve little girls in two straight lines... The smallest one was Madeline."
I dressed up as Madeline, my favorite literary character as a child, and while my yellow brimmed hat is not pictured, I do have one!
Instead of wearing a hat to class, I opted to wear a big yellow bow:

My hair is super red in the sunlight! Just like little Madeline!

I even dressed Cannoli up as a banana, but she hated it so much that I just snapped a picture and let her run free. No banana suit for my pup!

A last minute decoration - found this last weekend for $1! Can you say super cute and such a steal?

Another view of my costume
I hope that you all have a wonderful night of trick-or-treating, passing out candy, watching scary films, or whatever you're doing to celebrate!
Happy Halloween!

{Friday Five} Songs for Halloween

ONE | "MONSTER MASH"
BOBBY "BORIS" PICKET

The most famous Halloween song, pretty much ever. It's also a personal favorite.

TWO | "LIVING DEAD GIRL"
ROB ZOMBIE

This song is wonderful. It reminds me of an old friend who was obsessed with this song, and I think it's great for a Halloween mix!

THREE | "THE WOLF"
FEVER RAY

I found this song after watching Red Riding Hood; the movie was mediocre but the music was wonderful! This one makes me want to dance around a bonfire and howl at the moon.

FOUR | "THIS IS HALLOWEEN"
THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS

There's nothing like the Nightmare Before Christmas to get someone in the mood for Halloween! And Christmas! This song sets the tone for the whole movie (and holiday, for that matter). There's also a very great cover by Marilyn Manson that you can hear here

FIVE | "THRILLER"
MICHAEL JACKSON

Oh, the Thriller. This song is a must for any Halloween playlist.

There's many more - Halloween is my favorite so I'm always collecting music and movies - but I couldn't list them all.

What are your favorite Halloween songs?

Halloween 2013: Decorations!

Love that pumpkin! And I'm making more jars like the one pictured!
Bought at Marshall's.
Halloween is my favorite holiday. Perhaps it's the spookiness, perhaps it is the dressing up, maybe the candy... I'm not sure, but there's just something about Halloween that makes it my favorite holiday! Decorating for Halloween is always an event in my house: we make a playlist, dig around for the boxes in the shed, and then go a little crazy with the decorations.

Since this is my first year in my new place, I do not have the amount of decorations that I'm used to, but I am doing all that I am able to give my house a little bit of spooky flair!

For example, what seems like your ordinary (although purple) Magic 8 Ball is actually...

A monster Magic 8 Ball! Muahahaha!
It's the little things in life.

More Halloween to come!
What is your favorite part of Halloween?
