First Day(s) of Classes

Last week, my classes began! We only have ten short weeks to learn all that we need to, so I have been reading like mad and trying my best to stay focused. There is a lot of coffee in me at almost all hours of the day.
I have found that success in my classes also has to do with something else: how I present myself. I am a firm believer in dressing for success. When I wear yoga pants and a sweatshirt, all I want to do in class is snooze. And with professors who call on me (supposedly at random) often, I cannot afford to snooze in class. So I will dress for class, even jeans will do, and down some coffee.
And study until I can keep my eyes open no longer.

What do you do for success in class?

Auburn Autumn

In my 101 in 1,001 Things to Do list, I decided that I wanted to cut & color my hair. It's all done, finished this weekend. I love it! Perfect for Autumn, which is coming up this weekend!
It certainly doesn't feel like Autumn here yet (80 degrees today!) but I cannot wait!

Current obsession: Apples

Apples

It's back-to-school season, and while not everyone is quite back (my classes don't start until the end of this month!), the school where I work is in full swing. This week and next, our theme will be "A is for Apples" as a way to get started, not only with the alphabet, but working with crafts that are easy for our new students.
I love apples, and being a teacher makes me love them just a little bit more. So above is a collection of some candy-apple-red or apple-related things that I love!
I actually own that perfume in a Disneyland-exclusive apple-shape bottle, and I'm in love with it. It smells so nice!

Fall Fashion Essentials: Shoes

Fall Essentials: Shoes

Hunter wellington boots, $125 / Short wedge boots / Chelsea Crew oxford / Almond toe flat / Chelsea Crew low pumps / Steve Madden ballet flat / Flat shoes / TOMS flat / Chinese Laundry stretch thigh high boots

Who doesn't love shoes, right? They really are the finishing touch to any outfit. While I do love to run around barefoot (benefits of living by the beach), I have always had a soft spot for a cute pair of shoes.
Since I have already given you a list of my fall fashion essentials, and expanded into recommendations for sweaters & cardigans, and tops, I figured I'd get to my favorite part: the accessories. Shoes are by far the easiest way to add a little something special to an outfit. As you can probably tell, I'm into cognac brown shoes, and I love flats!

What are your favorite shoe choices for Autumn?

Fall Essentials: Sweaters/Cardigans

Fall Essentials: Sweaters/Cardigans

Earlier this month, I made a post containing all of my fall fashion essentials. First on the list was sweaters and cardigans! I live in California, so I don't usually need big jackets, so I love love love a good knit cardigan or pullover.
I'm on a budget, so I like to find clothing that is fairly reasonable in price, or wait for a more expensive item to go on sale!

What's your favorite sweater?

Fall Fashion Essentials

With Autumn approaching rapidly, I thought that I would make a list of my personal fall fashion staples, and as summer continues and fall grows near, I'll expand on each of the "essentials" below:
  • Cardigans, both lightweight and heavier fabrics for when it's closer to winter
  • Button down shirts (white, chambray/light blue, striped, etc.)
  • Flannel button downs (great for layering!)
  • Black leggings
  • Boatneck shirts
  • Cable knit sweaters
  • Dark wash jeans
  • Knee-length skirts for layering
  • Tights and knee-high socks
  • Scarves. And lots of them. I adore scarves.
  • Riding boots and ankle booties, preferably in cognac brown, but black will do!
  • Wellies, preferably colorful! (My favorite pair are red, white, and blue, striped).
  • Ballet flats in black, brown, and a bright color.
  • Skinny belts for belting in cardigans, high-waisted skirts or dresses!
What are you stocking up on this Fall? What are your Fall fashion essentials?

Wishlist: Back-to-School 2013 Edition

Since the new school year is getting closer, I decided to start a wishlist! Of course, I won't be purchasing most of these things since I'm saving for tuition for the next two years, but that's why it's called a wish-list, right?

A notebook or two from May Designs, about $17-20 each. I'm in love!

Gramercy Hidden Zipper Satchel, $54 from Francesca's

Lilly Pulitzer academic sticker set, $6 from Lifeguard Press
"Merde, il pleut (Shit, it's raining)" Umbrella for $45, Buy here

Brave New World crewneck, $42 from Out of Print

What are you wishing for this Fall?

Much love,
Caryn Elizabeth
