An extremely belated {Halloween Costume} post!

This year, I decided to dress up as my favorite Disney character - Minnie Mouse
It was a relatively cheap costume because I already had all of the accessories; I found the dress and knew I could throw together my costume in a snap.

Where to buy:
Shoes, Modcloth - similar: Cube Your Enthusiasm Heel in Mustard - $69.99
Minnie Ears, Disneyland

Pearls, inherited

This was a simple but fun costume to put together that everyone loved! Especially me:

Hope everyone had a fun Halloween!
Tell me what you dressed up as in the comments.
xoxo

ModCloth Make The Cut Contest: 'Prints Charming'

Have you always dreamed of becoming a fashion designer? Well now that dream can come true! The ModClothMake The Cut program is a recurring design contest that invites the ModCloth Community to design garments, graphics, or fabric prints. Its main purpose is to further their mission of democratizing fashion by producing clothing designed by community members. YOU can become a designer at ModCloth!

How does the contest work?
Entrants will design a new print for a private label dress silhouette that is already being produced! Contestants have two weeks to submit designs. After the submission period, the ModCloth Creative Team will narrow down the submissions to 20, which will be sent to the guest judge, Amanda Needham, Costume Designer for Portlandia. After Amanda has chosen the 10 finalists, they will be posted on the Be The Buyer page for voting. There will be a week for the Community to vote, then ModCloth will contact the winner and update the contest announcement with the big news!

• Contest is Live Now!
• End of Submission Period: Friday 02/14/14
• Launch voting on Be The BuyerMonday 03/03/14
• End voting on Be The BuyerMonday 03/10/14
• Winner announced on ModCloth Blog (winner will be contacted personally): Wednesday 3/12/14

Send your entry in now and good luck!

Current obsession: Apples

Apples

It's back-to-school season, and while not everyone is quite back (my classes don't start until the end of this month!), the school where I work is in full swing. This week and next, our theme will be "A is for Apples" as a way to get started, not only with the alphabet, but working with crafts that are easy for our new students.
I love apples, and being a teacher makes me love them just a little bit more. So above is a collection of some candy-apple-red or apple-related things that I love!
I actually own that perfume in a Disneyland-exclusive apple-shape bottle, and I'm in love with it. It smells so nice!

Fall Fashion Essentials

With Autumn approaching rapidly, I thought that I would make a list of my personal fall fashion staples, and as summer continues and fall grows near, I'll expand on each of the "essentials" below:
  • Cardigans, both lightweight and heavier fabrics for when it's closer to winter
  • Button down shirts (white, chambray/light blue, striped, etc.)
  • Flannel button downs (great for layering!)
  • Black leggings
  • Boatneck shirts
  • Cable knit sweaters
  • Dark wash jeans
  • Knee-length skirts for layering
  • Tights and knee-high socks
  • Scarves. And lots of them. I adore scarves.
  • Riding boots and ankle booties, preferably in cognac brown, but black will do!
  • Wellies, preferably colorful! (My favorite pair are red, white, and blue, striped).
  • Ballet flats in black, brown, and a bright color.
  • Skinny belts for belting in cardigans, high-waisted skirts or dresses!
What are you stocking up on this Fall? What are your Fall fashion essentials?

xoxo,
Caryn Elizabeth
